Burmese Pagan Style Wooden Buddha Statue seated on a single lotus pedestal with right-hand gesture in bhumisparsa mudra. Due to this statue’s age, the peppercorn hair curls have become brittle and several have fallen off. Most statues of this age would more than likely have been gilded, with this statue showing a black and red lacquer that is used to prime Buddha statues in Burma before gilding, the eyes are downcast and painted.
