18th – 19th century Shan Royal King Burmese Buddha Statue with Tiered Crown, standing on a carved double lotus pedestal. This Buddha statue is dressed in royal attire with ornately carved side flanges on either side of a three-tiered crown under a semi-pointed usnisha.
Three floral incised medallions decorate the centre panel of the robe and headband. A single row of lotus petals decorates the lower part of the waistband, and is repeated around the neckline, and again around the top of both arms, indicative of the jewellery worn by a Royal king Buddha. This Buddha statue was once gilded with traces still remaining.
This crowned Buddha statue shows his left hand in Maha Karuna Mudra, the mudra of compassion for others.About Shan Style Buddha Statues
